Through Lambda Legal’s work on the ground at Pride festivals throughout the country and the online activism of our members, we were able to collect and deliver more than 17,000 petition signatures to Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice on World AIDS Day, December 1, 2006. This petition calls on the Secretary of State to use her power to retract the State Department’s discriminatory policy that bars people with HIV from being hired to serve in the Foreign Service.

We want to thank everyone who signed our petition and stood with Lambda Legal against this unfair, discriminatory policy — but the fight doesn’t stop here. Lambda Legal will continue to push forward with our cases on behalf of Lorenzo Taylor and Kyle Smith.
