Pinellas County Considers Protections for LGBT People

The Pinellas Board of County Commissioners is moving forward with a change to the Human Rights Ordinance that fails to include protections against discrimination based on gender identity and expression.

That means the law will not provide essential protections for the entire LGBT community and sends a particularly dangerous message that protecting the transgender community is not necessary despite the fact that gender based discrimination is often the most prevalent. In fact, most anti-gay discrimination is based on defying gender stereotypes.

They need to hear from you today!

Talking Points

1 - We are deeply disappointed that the Board of County Commissioners is moving forward with language not inclusive of gender identity and gender expression.

2 - The current language falls far short of what is needed and must include gender identity & expression.

3 - I only support a fully inclusive policy.

Subject:

Dear [ Decision Maker ],

I support only a fully inclusive Human Rights Ordinance to protect ALL people from discrimination.
