The Dietary Supplement and Healthy Meal Replacement Tax Parity Act, HR 1545, is pending before Congress. The bill recognizes that meal replacement and dietary supplement products have shown through research and historical use to be of valuable benefit to human health and disease prevention. Such items cannot now be claimed as an authorized deductible medical expense under current federal tax policy. This bill would allow for the costs of purchasing meal replacement and dietary supplement products to be deductible medical expenses. This tax deductibility option is long overdue for millions of Americans
