PANNA: Pesticide Action Network North America

Campaign Unavailable

We're sorry, this alert is no longer available. If you would like to learn more about ways you can take action, please visit Inactive -- Pesticide Action Network North America.

The short explanation of this alert was:

In response to public outcry over testing of pesticides on people, the US Congress is requiring that EPA issue a rule regulating such testing. Unfortunately, EPA's proposed rule fails to protect the health of experimental subjects, ignores concerns regarding conflict of interest and continues to allow pesticide manufacturers to finance, design and conduct tests on humans.

PAN joins with the Natural Resource Defense Council; the Center for Health, Environment, and Justice; the Organic Consumers Association; Beyond Pesticides and many other organizations in opposing EPA's proposed human testing rule, which does not meet the standards of the Nuremberg Code of ethical medical behavior, despite specific Congressional instructions to do so.

Additionally, we are asking EPA to instead focus energy and resources on studies that evaluate the levels and health impacts of occupational and non-occupational exposures that are already happening, especially in vulnerable groups, and in or near agricultural communities where pesticides are commonly used.

Read more about human testing.

EPA has opened a public comment period with a December 12th deadline. Please join with PAN to stop EPA's proposed rule that lifts restrictions on intentional dosing of human beings with pesticides by EPA. Thank you!

Take Action! Fill out the letter below by December 12th.
