The National Center for DWI Courts NEEDS YOUR HELP!!

SAFETEA-LU, the Federal Highway Transportation Bill that funds all of the federal highway projects, as well as impaired driving programs, is coming to an end in September of this year. One of the key programs encouraged by SAFETEA-LU has been DWI Courts which has led to increased awareness and development of DWI Courts across the nation.

NADCP/NCDC and Century Council partnered to develop new recommendations for the next version of SAFETEA-LU. After consulting with a number of DWI Court professionals and with the support of other national organizations, we came up with a list of recommendations that we know would benefit the development of more DWI Courts and ultimately save lives on our highways.

The next "job" is to make sure that members of the Transportation Committee in the House of Representatives are aware of and support these recommendations. Once this bill is passed it will be in effect for 6 years - so it is vital to get to those that are working on the bill now.
