NADCP’s Annual Drug Court Training Conference is the largest conference in the nation focusing on substance abuse and criminality. Its principal objectives are to receive training from peers and experts alike on the current practices and trends in the treatment of addiction, to connect with policy makers on the direction of funding and relevant legislation, to network with fellow practitioners and to interface with providers of products and services developed to meet the needs of the field.
The conference is designed using a multi-track system with concurrent workshops geared toward the various practitioners represented in the drug court setting. In addition, sessions are designed to reflect issues specific to the various client populations served (adult, juvenile, family and tribal courts). Additional sessions showcase other problem solving courts modeled after drug courts. Workshops are graduated according to the experience of the drug court practitioner, with sessions for new to advanced practitioners.
Up to 20 pre-conference workshops will be offered, each of them a half to full day in length. These are oriented to more in-depth learning and cover such topics as drug testing, co-occurring disorders, psychopharmacology and fetal alcohol syndrome among others.
Our Exhibit Hall and Marketplace is a perennial favorite featuring 65+ exhibitors showcasing the myriad of products and services that drug courts employ every day in their work. A reception is tentatively slated in the hall on Thursday, June 22.
Several ancillary events surround the annual conference, both before and during. The Juvenile Art Gallery, National Drug Court Month, Stanley Goldstein Hall of Fame, the Drug Court Showcase and other events serve to build our community as well as draw outside attention to the work drug courts do. These are the focus of our honors session, which also features a celebrity keynote speaker.
This, our 12th annual conference, is expected to draw over 2,300 attendees.
