Ford Motor Company must disavow its reported agreement with the American Family Association
As you may know, there have been reports in the media that the Ford Motor Company under threat of boycott by the extremist and anti-LGBT American Family Association has agreed to stop advertising in LGBT publications and to stop sponsoring LGBT events. These reports, combined with Ford's decision last week to refer media to the American Family Association to speak on its behalf, raise serious questions about whether Ford has aligned itself with an anti-gay extremist group. Until this, Ford has had an exemplary record on our issues. Please e-mail, call or fax Ford Motor Company today. They need to hear and understand the seriousness of our community's concerns. Please ask Ford to directly disavow any type of agreement with the American Family Association, and reaffirm its support for and outreach to the LGBT market. And please urge Ford executives to meet with community leaders to resolve the grave concerns raised by these reports. Please contact William Clay Ford, Jr., chairman of the board and chief executive officer, by sending this letter (please feel free to edit) through our system.
Dear [ Decision Maker ] , I am dismayed by recent media reports saying that Ford Motor Company capitulated to the demands of the American Family Association (AFA), an extremist organization, and agreed to stop advertising in lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender publications and to stop sponsoring gay and lesbian events. As a consumer, I feel it is critical that you disavow any agreement with AFA, if one exists. It is also critical that you reaffirm your support for and outreach to the LGBT market and that you meet with community leaders to resolve the grave concerns raised by these reports.
Sincerely, |

It is critical that companies not start capitulating to the demands of right-wing extremist groups. LGBT groups across the country are joining in and asking their members to contact Ford immediately and express their concerns. In addition, an urgent meeting is being sought with Ford to address these issues.
