Contact your Legislators - Support the U!
We Need Your Help TODAY!
For the University to realize its goals and continue to be an economic engine for the state, the University and the State of Minnesota must have a strong partnership. The University has put together a reasonable 2008 capital request that will allow the University to sustain its high level of quality and competitiveness and better position the University to contribute to the future economy of Minnesota.
RIGHT NOW the House and Senate Capital Investment Committees are working to put together their bonding recommendations. Over the next few weeks, the House and Senate will be finalizing and voting on their bonding bills. This process will help to determine how much money the University will receive. Your legislators' support is critical to the University of Minnesota receiving its full capital request. All legislators need to hear from University supporters about how fully funding the University's capital request will benefit the entire state.
We need your help! Please send a note to your representative and senator to ask them to support full funding of the University of Minnesota's 2008 capital request.
Personal letters and e-mails are among the most effective ways to influence elected officials. We have provided sample e-mail texts below that you can use to help tailor your own letter. Remember to use your own stories and anecdotes about why the University is important to you.

Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,
I am writing to you as a constituent and I believe strongly that the University of Minnesota is one of the state's greatest assets. University researchers develop cures and make discoveries that improve our quality of life. This work is not possible without strong state support.
I ask you to support the University's full capital request. Supporting the University's capital request supports academic programs and research that are the foundation of our state's future.
Sincerely,
