Strong state support of the U of M translates into a strong workforce and improved quality of life for all Minnesotans.  In 1974, Minnesota spent eight cents of every dollar on higher education and today that number is less than four cents.  It's time for state leaders to reverse the trend and invest in the U.

The University of Minnesota educates our future leaders, makes discoveries that improve our lives and attracts new businesses to the state. Without strong state support for the U, Minnesota will lose its competitive edge.

Urge your legislators to reverse the trend and fully support the University's biennial budget request. We have provided sample text that you can send to your legislator but we encourage you to write your own letter.  Personal letters are more effective with legislators.

Sample Letter for Campaign

Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,

I am writing to you as a constituent and I believe strongly that the University of Minnesota is one of the state's greatest assets. University researchers develop cures and make discoveries that improve our quality of life. This work is not possible without strong state support.

During the legislative session, I ask you to support the University's full biennial request. Supporting University programs and research is a wise investment in our state's future.
