UAN's Humane Education Ambassador Reader (HEAR) program helps children explore the human-animal bond through stories and discussion. HEAR volunteers visit classrooms, after-school programs, animal shelters and youth groups to read to children and lead discussions -- helping children develop critical thinking skills and empathy. Teachers do not necessarily need to become HEAR volunteers to use the HEAR program in their own classrooms.

Sign up on this page to indicate your interest in learning more about the HEAR program curriculum and how it is being used in elementary school classrooms and other locations on both coasts to encourage empathy and compassion toward animals. We welcome interest from all regions of the United States and Canada and we look forward to hearing from you. If you sign up here, a member of the UAN staff will contact you directly to discuss your interest in the program.
