Greetings,
This is a historic week for the university and
all Minnesotans. After more than three years of hard work at the
state legislature, we are happy to announce that Gopher football
will return to campus in the fall of 2009! On Saturday night,
the House and Senate both passed a compromise bill that will
help to fund the construction of a new Gopher stadium on campus.
The stadium represents an investment in the people of this state
and in the future of Golden Gopher football and the University of
Minnesota.
You are invited to join us to witness Gov.
Pawlenty’s signing of this historic bill on Wednesday, May
24th at the McNamara Alumni Center. The program will
begin at 3:00 pm and will be followed by a short reception. Join
us as our dreams of bringing Gopher football back to campus
become reality!

emails, and other contacts with legislators made the difference
and helped to ensure that Gopher football will be returning to
campus in 2009! We look forward to TCF Bank stadium becoming a
center of campus life and helping to rekindle a sense of
excitement, spirit, and pride in your University of
Minnesota!
