Eve Honored By YWCA
and Addresses Canadian Parliament
On April 28th, Eve Ensler and Stephen
Lewis, former UN Special Envoy for HIV/AIDS in Africa, were
invited to speak to Parliamentarians and Senators of the
Canadian Government for "Until The Violence Stops: How
Canada Can Help End The Use Of Sexual Violence As A Weapon In
War."
The program was organized by the
All-Party Parliamentary Group for the Prevention of Genocide
and Other Crimes Against Humanity, a group of
Parliamentarians from all parties in the House of Commons and
the Senate who have a common interest in the prevention of
genocide and crimes against humanity.
This groundbreaking program offered Eve and
Mr. Lewis the opportunity to speak directly with over a dozen
policy makers about the need for Canada to contribute to ending
the use of sexual violence against women in war in general, and
in the DRC in particular.

Open Window, Raises
Awareness About Violence Against Women
OPEN WINDOW, an independent feature
starring Robin Tunney, Joel Edgerton, Cybill Shepherd and Elliot
Gould, is a poignant love story about a newly engaged couple who
find their cozy world shattered by a random act of violence. The
film is an intimate, honest portrayal of the repercussions and
the recovery process of a rape survivor and her loved ones.
The writing/directing debut of accomplished
motion picture editor Mia Goldman ("My Big Fat Greek Wedding,"
"The Big Easy"), the film is based on a traumatic experience
that happened to her over ten years ago while editing on
location. Her goal in making OPEN WINDOW is to communicate to
other survivors of violence that hope exists and that it is
never too late to start the recovery process.
